Shreevats and Anustup provides Bengal advantage

Both Shreevats Goswami and Anustup Majumder smashed tonnes, as Bengal dominated Goa in their Group D encounter against Goa at Eden Gardens today. At stumps Bengal was 305/5 before the day's play was called off due to bad light.
After asked to bat first, Bengal started shakily as Goa pacers made most of the early morning assistance of greenish deck to reduce Bengal 20 for 3. Abhishek Raman got trapped infront of the wicket for 1.Sudip Chatterjee edged an outward ball to wicket-keeper,while skipper Manoj Tiwary chased an outside-off delivery and got dismissed for naught.Abhimanyu Easwaran and Shreevats Goswami stitched a partnership of 59 runs before Eswaran(46) misjudged a ball to get bowled,reducing Bengal 79 for 4.
Shreevats and Anustup Majumder refused to panic and steadied the innings.The southpaw was bit shaky earlier in his innings,but captialised on torrid bowling to smash them all over the park. While, the all-rounder was in the zone from very first ball playing some imperious shots.The man behind the stump hit his 4th ton of his career and first of current season to take Bengal out of danger. Anustup followed Goshwami as the former went on to hit his 5th first-class century by pushing the ball to the on-side.
Shreevats and Anustup added 213 runs off 314 runs for 5th wicket before the southpaw got dismissed on 139 tried to slog the ball. The little man could thank his luck as he got three life-lines on 49,89 and 98 respectively;while Anustup was dropped on 21.
Goa bowlers tried to frustrate Bengal batters, but poor fieldings and ordinary bowling ensured Bengal piled on runs. Garg and Pandrekar picked up two wickets each,while Alemao got a solitary wicket.
At stumps, Writtick Chatterjee(6 not out) accompanied Anustup in the middle who remained unbeaten on 107.
